I created this in 2010 at a course in an art school on the Danish island of Ærø. When it was finished one of my friends just fell in love with it, to her amazement I gave it to her then and there!

The photo's below are from a visit to Christiania I had with an English friend just before Christmas. I love photographing in this place, there is just so many delicious motives :-)

At the moment there is a snow storm outside and we are definitely going to have a white Christmas. The Xmas traffic is in chaos over parts of Denmark and I am so happy to be inside my warm house, enjoying my wood burning stove without the bother of having to venture out in the cold!

Here are a couple of huge buckets of flowers I saw in a florist in Copenhagen, I would have loved to treat myself but could not have managed getting one home without damaging the flowers, they are beautiful aren't they ......

A day in Copenhagen and the snow at home

An angel painted a couple of weeks ago, it is acrylic on a 20x20 canvas, this photo doesn't do it justice unfortunately. I had an eventful time last week! I was in Copehagen for a couple of days in the biting cold but it was lovely seeing the Xmas lights and decorations and absorbing the holiday atmosphere. Here are some photo's from the famous Tivoli at night ....

Snow photo's from my garden, it was amazing to wake up to these fluffy bushes and trees, very magical :-)

Experimenting with wax

I got a encaustic set a few years ago for my birthday but did not try it out until a few months ago. These are the results, this is definitely not my medium even though I had fun doing it. I have applied orange acrylic afterwards because I thought they looked so boring without it, probably cheating if you ask an encaustic artist :-)

.....It was a beautiful and spectacular autumn. I am so far behind on my posting so here I am catching up. Here are some photo's from Halskøv's Vænge an archaeological woodland nearby with a couple of watercolours/pen paintings of mine in between. By the way I have big snow drifts in my back garden, I think they are about 1,25-1,50 meter high and the whole village I live in has been snowed in for a couple of days this week.

Sorry I have not posted for a while, I was on a self portrait course three weeks ago and then got back home to a very nasty session with sinusitis with a very swollen eye and feeling pretty rotten for a long time!!!

Here is the painting of the fisherman from Æro I promised to show, I need to work a little bit more at it, I am not satisfied with one of the hands yet. It is 90x100cm painted on canvas with acrylic. I was in the Lake District last month enjoying the autumn colours. I stayed in a lovely place called Ambleside. From here I managed to travelled all over with a couple of full day trips in a minibus and walked a couple of days for 4-5 hours. It was a wonderful holiday, enjoyed every minute of it. It is strange looking back to the autumn landscape with 20cm of snow outside at the moment!

I walked from Ambleside to Grasmere the last day, it is a really beautiful trip! This is Rydal water and the next photo shows Grasmere Lake.

Other Scenes from this walk, I did not go over the stepping stones but they look charming don't they ;-)

Talked to this fella, baaaaa was his answer, a very sensible conversation indeed :-)

Castlerig stone circle outside of Keswich, it has a magnificent view all around it.

The next photos are from a walk I did at the beginning of the week.

As well as talking to sheep I had a 'chat' with this lovely cow, who stuck her tongue out in appreciation ... ha ha! I walked passed her into the field to the left to be met by an adolescent bull who really gave me the 'don't mess around with me' mean look. Ups, I retreated, waited until the bull was busy looking the other way and almost ran through the field until I was 'safe'. The lake seen here is Windermere.

The World Owl Trust at Muncaster Castle is Europe'sbiggest owl sanctuary. I was in the castle too, interesting place.

Angel like painting and the woman at the tree

This painting is done in acrylic a few months ago, I started with using Golden Acrylic medium and acid free tissue paper to give some texture on the first layer. It's 30x30cm in size. Got back from a holiday in the Lake District in England and will be posting photo's from here soon, had a wonderful time :-)

Here are three drawings of a model at an interesting apple tree drawn in August, they have taken 15 minuites each to do .... a form of croquis with the clothes on.

....and for those who find scenes from nature boring ;-)

Couldn't see makes interesting paintings

Watercolours done at the beach, I started at dusk and it eventually ended up dark. I couldn't see the last painting properly while painting it and had a real problem seeing the colours in both. I found the results interesting :-)

A visit to Damanhur Italy

Last week I was away with a couple of friends for 5 days visiting a beautiful artistic place called Damanhur in Italy, well in reality I was only there for 3 days as two of the days were used travelling. This place has been called the 8th wonder of the world. A group of people who live in a society together here have built temples into a mountain by hand without the authorities knowing about it for years! More of the story HERE. We were not allowed to photograph or film in the temples but I have taken these photo's of the area of Damanhur....

I loved visiting this place but living in a community like this does not appeal to me. The artwork they have produced together is fantastic and inspiring and I will never forget his wonderful trip. It took me 12 hours to get there from my home to the place we were staying, a car trip, aeroplane, a bus shuttle, two trains and a taxi . phew!!!

Fern painting and shots from the town of Ærøskøbing

I found the inspiration for this painting in an old building. The brick wall was damp and this fern bravely grew on the wall even though it was inside the building! Below are photos from Ærøskøbing on the island of Ærø. The first three are of a wonderfully crooked house.

I spent the afternoon walking in the archaeological woods at Halskovs Vænge Denmark. The stones in the last photo are a part of a megalith. Had a wonderful time :-)

This is an 'abstract' over the most charming beach huts (Urehoved Badehusene) in Ærøskøbing on the island of Ærø Denmark. These huts are protected, have to be looked after and kept up in the original form, apparently they are quite expensive to buy too.

Fisherman

I was on the charming island of Ærø again at the beginning of August and enjoyed the break. The painting here is a real fisherman who I spoke to in the rain. I was so happy that it was raining as I love the bright colours of his rain clothes! It rained a lot the first week! This motive I have used again on a bigger canvas and will post it later on. I have been active painting and drawing the last month and have many more paintings and photo's to post over the next few weeks :-) These photo's are impressions of patterns shapes and colours left from my holiday. I was in an old warehouse photographing and on the harbour at Søby in the rain.

A flower for Heidi

I have not seen my friend Heidi for 2 years, thank goodness the telephone exists and I ring to her in USA from time to time. I saw her recently and it was wonderful. This tulip painting was a gift for her created by me, painted on canvas with acrylics. Below there is an abstract bird painted on watercolour paint. Here I have used watercolours, acrylics and acrylic pens. A little bit of fun :-)
This is a photo taken from an exhibition about the Amazon at the National Museum in Copenhagen last year. I love the colours here!
Flowers from my summer garden, long gone now because of a drought this summer. It has been raining the last week so the grass is getting it's green colour back again.

Dragon Fly Card

One more thing that was sent to Stampington, this I got returned :-) It is a card that opens from the center. The top picture is the card opened out and bottom it is closed. I decoupaged a part of a napkin onto it and worked with paints, stamps and punched paper. Below is one of my 'blurr' photo's, I do have a weakness for these.

Trips to the forest

Beautiful peony, must get some of these plants for the garden. I am out there still fighting off weeds from last year, planting and planning, could do with some muscle power for all the plans I have :-)I have been to the forest nearby a few times recently, love the peace and quiet there and only met a couple of people on my walks! These photo's are taken with my mobile telephone. The second one is a photo of a megalithic burial ground and the last two 'proves' that the elf's and fairies are dancing there :-), just got carried away didn't I!

I have used this motive a few times, it is a really nice model that was used on a course I was on. Love her red jacket. The picture above is 100x80 cm. painted on canvas with acrylic and is not finished yet. I seemed to have stood still with it for a while, it is a bit overwhelming at the moment. This photo was taken two days ago from one of my velux windows. I am amazed at the colours of the sunsets this year, have admired many since I moved here but the ash for the vulcano in Island has really intensified them!

A journal entry I did last year and a close up of the one page, the bird is a rubber stamp.I call this painting 'Infinity', it is an acrylic on canvas, please click on it to see it bigger ....Found this photo on my camera taken a month ago when the woodlands were a fresh green ...My time seems to be going into the garden at the moment, because of all the dificulties I had last year I didn't get out there as much, so the weeds are well and truly enjoying life :-) I am gradually getting around taking one part at a time, thinking of replanning parts of it. This last one has been manipulated at the left side at the top where there was grass, I couldn't resist it was boring before :-) This is an actual sculpture in Christiania.

A trip to Copenhagen

I saw an old friend from England last Sunday and we took a lovely trip around Copenhagen ending up in Christiania, a free town started by hippies in 1970. The place is fascinating a mixture of creativity, nature, tourists, locals, hash selling, grafitti, fascinating buildings some of them run down others well kept, playful decorations in gardens etc. It has a respectable and a notorious side to it. There always seems to be dogs wandering around and there were sellers in one of the streets with all sorts of nicknacks. We ended up in their vegetarian restaurant and had some lovely food.

Love the painted brick wall below, notice the bikes in the picture after this, Copenhagen is a bike city with bicycle paths all aound.

Croquis drawing and green paintings

On Wikepedia - Croquis drawing is quick and sketchy drawing of a live model. Croquis drawings are usually made in a few minutes, after which the model changes pose and another croquis is drawn. The short duration of the pose benefits the model because they don't need to keep their poses for a long period. This also benefits the artists because it helps them concentrate on the essential elements of the pose. With this type of drawing and posing, an artist simply does not have time to draw all the details, so they learn to ignore them and concentrate instead on the important elements ..... The word croquis comes from French and means simply "sketch".

I painted this shadow painting last week, loved the shape of myself together with the tree. Bottoms of tree trunks and roots have always fascinated me...

Springtime

Springtime has arrived, it has been a lovely day today and I have been out in the garden pruning the roses and cutting back old growth from the perenials. The birds have started nesting and eating like crazy all the food I put out. I am calling the tag Springtime and show the front and the back of it here. This is a big tag 7x18cm in size.

Leaf collage

This is a collage I created last year, not quite decided if it is finished yet. I experimented with acrylics, copper paint, different types of cloth (velvet, shiny and close net polyester), a stamp and StázOn ink, glitter paint and lace paper. The scanning does not really show the collage properly unfortunately and as usual when I upload to blogger the colours seem to grow in intensity. A Close up inside a flower and reflections on a daffodil, glass and rusty wire.
I unfortunately by mistake erased my links, I am gradually finding them again but am still missing many.

The last of the winter snow, it has all gone now. The mounds of snow were created by a tractor pushing the snow back, the road had got so narrow at one point that it was impossible for two cars to pass each other. I love this tree and enjoy it every time I see it, it has beautiful pink red flowers in the early summer.

Longing for pink.

I started this last year and couldn't quite get it right, I had experimented with Golden Acryics Fiber Paste, acryic paints, lace flowers, swaroski gems and multi coloured metal leaf. When I came to the painting again after a long break I knew exactly what to do to make it come together, I obviously needed to sleep on it for a huge amount of nights :-)
A close up blurrr, I love this type of abstract photo. Finally, my orchids are still blossoming, 2½ months after I bought them, I find this amazing and love seeing them light up the room every day!

The green is appearing again :-)

Over the last half year I have enjoyed making bracelets for myself and buying beads in anticipation of the creation process :-)

The snow is gradually beginning to melt and I am actually seeing some of my lawn for the first time in months. We have been experiencing the lovely sound of rain as well. Even though they have promised snow again next week, I am enjoying seeing the tarmac on the roads instead of the normal compressed white covering that has dominated the local roads for weeks! I observed today that the spring bulbs have been peeping their little heads up under the layers of snow and are now visible where it has melted.

Here is a painting using watercolour, acrylics, inks, a rubber stamp, gesso and acrylic texture. It is painted on paper and is 30x30 cm's in size.

Snow, snow and still more snow!

This is a silver blue tag I created a couple of years ago. I feel inspired to create some more when I look at this :-)
I am well again after my infection, it took me down for many days with five of them having a high fever.

The fields have been white since the end of November and the roads around here have been extremely difficult driving many times. It has snowed throughout this winter and it has been so bad that they have used military tanks to assist ambulances here in Denmark. The birds have a famished look on most of the time and without doubt they are having a very unpleasent time. My neighbours and I are feeding them and there are birds here that should have migrated but stayed, fooled by the mild winters we have had for years.
I swerved off a snowy road into a field on the opposite side last week, nothing happened to me or the car but my nerves were definitely frayed. I was stuck there in a meter of snow until I was rescued over an hour later. My faith in people was heightened by all those who stopped and asked me if I was OK while I was waiting, over 10 cars on a not too busy road! I got 'back on the horse' again as they say and drove home and forced myself out the day after and have been driving every day this week. I got stuck in snow again the day before yesterday too, this time rescued by a nice local farmer.

Everyone is tired of the snow, longing for spring and yet the experts are saying that winter depression is low due to the light comes from the white landscape.

Please let us together create a year where the qualities of love and peace come forth, where we as individuals make a difference towards creating a wonderful world. We can do this in our own way inspiring and helping friends, family and strangers in our communities and in the whole wide world. I personally feel that I need to change my focus onto that which gives me contentment and happiness, to a life full of depth and the unfoldment of talent. Sharing this with others and giving others my help is an invaluable part of this. 2009 has been a difficult year, on reflection I have learnt so much on the value of living my life in each moment, appreciating my friends and family and the possibilities that show themselves in my life. Thank you all for visiting and commenting in 2009 :-)

This is a painting I created this summer, I have it up in my bedroom and enjoy the simplicity of it. It is acrylic on canvas and is 28x24 cm in size.This is a little painting done in the beginning of 2009, I have used watercolour and inks here.I love orchids and was recently inspired into buying more plants after visiting a friend that had beautiful plants in flower....and a single rose, a brave soul taken before the snow came in December.

Memories from summer and my new moo frame

I was painting with my friend Sonja the other day and started this, she probably would not recognise it now as it has radically changed since she went home :-) It is only 20x20 cm and painted in acrylic on canvas.

The photo's are close-ups from summer, never got around to posting because of all the upheaval in my life and my new Moo frame that I really enjoyed putting my all Moo cards into.

A trip to Ærø and a wonderful week at an Art School

Please click on this picture to see it larger. I have been on a model drawing course. This type of drawing is called croquis, quick and sketchy drawing with a model with times from 15 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 7 minutes, 10 minutes and when we were very lucky 15 minutes. We had classed 3 times a day and believe me I was drawing in my dreams a few days after the course :-) The top yellow drawings are 3 done in 3 minutes, the pink in 1 minute and the rest are approximately 15 minutes. Below is a 15 minute drawing.... and finally a 15 second drawing ... phew!
I was staying at an Art School situated on an island called Ærø. Don't even try to pronounce Ærø if you are not Danish :-) Spelt Aeroe in English but it is nothing like the pronunciation. It took an hour drive and two ferries to get there, 6 hours in all and I enjoyed the trips to and fro. I took the car on the ferries with me.
This photo looks oldie worldie taken at the harbour at a place called Marstad, many people use bicycles in Denmark.
The Art School was old and quaint and had a few buildings attached to it, their homesite is here http://www.kunstaeroe.dk/index.html. They have long term courses in English (mainly young people) and short courses in Danish. We were people from different areas in life. Young, middle aged and people at the pension age.
This bell was rang before every delicious wholesome meal!...and this windmill was on a hill overlooking the school.The view from on top a a hill nearby, in the distance there is the water. Ærø is only a small island, it is 22,000 acres and has a population of 7000.One day I was out driving a little trip with another woman from the course and we came across this message. Translated it says ... "Warning, dog without a leash, if you meet the dog lie on the ground and wait for help. If no one comes good luck" :-) Oh dear, we were a bit scared but later asked about it with the owner, who had a mischievous look in her eyes while telling us she had no dog ... he he.

Blue is one of my favourite colours and I love blur photo's when they turn out well. I was at a drawing course othe week before last and I will post some of my work soon, it was an intensive week with lessons 3 times a day and I enjoyed every single minute. I was ill last week and not fully well yet but getting there :-) This is one of my homemade cards done months ago.

A difficult time.

My Mother died on the 8th June, she was 85 years old and was happy until the last couple of days. She was a wonderful person, my best friend and I miss her. This year has been a difficult year for me, my relationship with my partner has broken up, my cat died in June and I have been attacked at work a couple of times. Many people write their way out of this on their blog, my reaction has been to close down for a while and go inward. I love doing my blogs and it has been strange for me that I have not had the need or the surplus energy to express myself, definitely this post is one that I have not been looking forward to writing. I have neglected posting and looking through your inspiring blogs, I am very sorry for this.

The picture above is from one of my journals, done in early summer.Here are a couple of photo's from my garden taken in the midst of this colourful autumn. It has really been wonderful this year and I have enjoyed all the motives that have appreared while driving, really wanting to capture them all on camera.

My cat Trisha has died, she lived to be 15 years old and was not well the last month. I had her at the vet three times but in the end she died of kidney failure. I will miss my little fur ball.

I have been away in England sorting out help for my Mum in various ways, she is getting old and has had her 85th birthday on the 17th June. This is the reason why I have not blogged for a month, havn't had time! I try to get over as much as possible and I ring her twice daily now.
This is an amazing flower field about a 3 minutes drive away from my home. I was in heaven when I first say this and it still has the same effect every time I pass it!
The colours are much better in the original photos. I reduce the file size in Photoshop and get them just right and then when I upload them Blogger ruins them by converting them again ... sigh!

I love crystals, and everything shiny :-) Here is a close up of an angel statue and an Indian Statue of Krishna ...Birds in the nest collage which I will make into a booklet. I have used a stencil, a German sticker and Danish stickers that are a collectable item especially by children. I have also painted with golden paint to highlight certain areas.
I brought this back from England, it is a closeup of a table mat that is old and sctratched but I love it....and the inside cover of the booklet.

I have been working on hand made mandala's. The two pictures at the bottom under the circle are finished, the rest are not. The painting is not finished either, there is lacy blob on it has to be glued on the painting in another area.
I am knitting a scarf, I was lucky enough to buy the yarn cheap in Bury Market last time I was in England. It is going to be nice and warm when it is finished.
I have been working on an evening shift, when I got back home I was delighted to hear a nightingale singing it's heart out, one of the joys of living in the countryside :-)

I have bought myself a new screen, got tired of my old small one. The only problem is that the colours are screaming at me and I am wondering how you see the colours from my blog on your screen. I cannot find Adobe's Gamma calibration in my computer even though I have used lots of time on the net trying to find instructions. I think I am going to give up for today.

I've taken these photos around the house. The bracelet around the Madonna statue is one I made myself.

The angel painting is a card I did for a friend who sent me beautiful words of encouragement.I have been away from my blog for a whole month. Been very busy, I am working more often than not in the evenings, which was the time I devoted to blogging. At the same time Mum's been in hospital. I went to England two weeks ago and found her weak, gasping for breath at the slightist effort and got her to the doctor in the nick of time. She is coming home tomorrow and is now OK but it has been a worry. So I hope you all forgive me for not posting!Yesterday I got my first day off in Easter and we drove off in the countryside with food enough for two meals in a picnik basket. I really needed this day away and enjoyed every minuite of it!
There are signs of spring all over the place, the trees have not shown their lime green foliage yet.

Some of my homemade cards. I always enjoy doing these and find doing them very relaxing. If they don't work out no sweat but I have a habit of putting too much work into them, they are after all mini pieces of art :-) I have used rubber stamps on four of these cards and watercolour paints on all of them. On the second card I used one of my inch pictures.

These were at my exhibition, small collages created with my computer art and other paper lace layers on canvas with acrylic paint. I have used a special medium from Golden acrylics called Gel topcoat w/ULVS and a Polymer Varnish with UVLS. This means they are protect from UV damage and they should not fade like they normally would. They are only 20x20 in size.

These are some of my older paintings that I dug out for the exhibition, I realised that I have not shown them before on the internet, they have been hiding away :-) The last of these I call intelligent fire, I have always wanted to put small smiley's on the flames :-)
It was difficult taking good pictures of the exhibition because the lighting was poor the day I took these and they are behind glass.
It is amazing seeing many years of my work together in this way, they have been packed away in folders. I am very thankful for the opportunity,even though it was hard work getting the exhibition organised it has been worth it.

Why? Because I now have an exhibition up in Stubbekøbing Library for the whole of February. It has been hard work the last two weeks getting it all organised and doing some more artwork for it. I have 37 pictures up in a room with a view over the harbour and sea. So know you know why my blog has been neglected for a while. At the same time I have started a new job ...phew!!!
On this posting are some of the pictures that are exhibited, I will post more and pictures of the exhibition later :-) I have many years of work exhibited. Some of the pictures in my slideshow at the bottom are there.

A cold winter day in Stege and experimenting with digital art.

Here I have played around with my computer art, placing it on Canvas with Golden Acrylic Regular Gel, together with a gel topcoat of with ultra violet light filter so it will not fade. I then painted around and collaged some lacy fibres which I painted afterwards. The computer art has not scanned properly unfortunately, I have tried to correct it in Photoshop but not to my satisfaction, so I decided to show you the original work, which is underneath this. The girl is called Ida, she is my friend's beautiful daughter.
Stege is on the island of Møn in Denmark. I was here for a couple of hours today, it was a cold, drizzly and dark day but I couldn't resisist taking some photo's to share.

Times are changing, they feel a little insecure and nobody knows what the future has in hold for us, 2009 is probably a difficult year for many.

I love the work of Byron Katie (the link is here ... http://thework.com/index.asp and I remember seeing her in Copenhagen a few years ago and having a pleasurable enriching weekend course. One of the things she said that made a difference to me was this (in my own words) ...

You can take a bud and tell to grow by shouting and yelling at it and eventually when it grows you will probably say "See I told you so!" as an affirmation to your behaviour being right. Or you can let nature take its course and the bud will grow into the most beautiful rose anyway, with no effort needed.

This is something I will try to remember this year. She also says that when something is taken away then she gets really exited because something even better is on its way and if we don't believe it then we should go back into our lives and investigate. It is certainly true for me. So 2009 is a year of opportunity and I am looking forward to this year.

I wish you all a wonderful New Year full of hope, dreams come true, love, happiness and true fulfilment!!! Thank you all for reading my blog :-)

I am not a very busy blogger at the moment. Life has taken over for a while.

I decorated this candle the other day and love the result but I have a confession to make, it was supposed to be a decoupage candle using a serviette but it went wrong. Typical of me I just carried on with it until I was satisfied.This is 'sort of kind of' an Xmas card using a rubber stamp, unfortunately it has not scanned very well. I really like the rubber stamp. I have created a few Xmas cards and will try to scan them in and post them soon.

...and this is a bit of fun!!!
Did it while I was on holiday in November, I just went mad and experimented with rubber stamps. I like the happy feel of this one.

I can't quite fathom the fact that is is almost Christmas even though I am in a festive mood.

These were taken 10 days ago in an amazing wood. The colours were magical, it was wonderful seeing the copper ground and all the different tones of the trees. The trees have almost dropped all of their leaves now and it is getting cold. Winter is on its way.

This is a 70th birthday card for Birte. I went out looking for a nice card and was disappointed with the boring cards I found so I went home a made this one instead.

The week before last I was in England helping Mum who eventually found out that I had a plan of what needed doing and teased me about it! I wanted to help her as much as possible. She's OK and was thankful for everything I managed to do. It was so nice seeing her.
I am used to driving on the right side of the road, got my driver's license 4 years ago, which is very late but I was living in Copenhagen, which is a very bicycle friendly city, so I did not really need a car there. Anyhow in England I was confronted with driving on the left side of the road, I was really having kittens! I chose to start with 2 driving lessons before I collected the car I hired. I normally don't swear but the poor driving instructor had to listen to a few naughty words :-) I had to get used to another car, the other side of the road, roundabouts (help!) and my nerves, believe me I felt like a beginner again! When I got the hired car in the afternoon I drove around until I got used to it and gradually got the hang of it as the week progressed.
It has been such a beautiful autumn this year. Before I journeyed to England I took these photo's. It was even more beautiful when I got home.
I have also been decorating this weekend, my muscles are tired and stiff now ;-)

You would think I had enough with two blogs and that was definitely my thought until this weekend. Oh well I am a woman and that gives me the right to change my mind doesn't it :-)

On the spur of the moment I decided to follow my spontaneous inclinations and create an angel blog. It took me a while to find a name I liked but I am very satisfied with Angel Shimmer. My other blogs have plain titles, so I decided that this time I would find something interesting. It took a while because many of the names I found were taken. Actually I ended up being happy about that because I finished up with a far better name!

Then of course comes the fun bit, creating the top picture and setting up the blog in 3 columns. If any of you wish to know how to do this then see here - Three Column Blogger. This top picture really teased me and I ended up killing off a few of my 'darlings as they say in the artistic world, to get it to feel OK. I have used many hours the last 3 days to get it just right.

What am I going to put up on this blog? Well that is going to be an adventure 'cos I haven't got it planned, so I too am going to see how this develops.

My local yarn shop is closing, which is a crying shame because she has so much lovely effect yarn. Needless to say I have been buying these lovely yarns at around half price. Please don't ask me it I need it ;-)

One of the pleasure of driving early in the mornings is the misty sunrises that occur form time to time and we have had a few recently. Thank goodness I almost always have my ol' faithful camera with me, so I could get some shots. I love it when the sea mist creates islands. This is one of my favourites.

Deep Blue

This is my latest journal entry. I experienced pure enjoyment in experimenting with this and used new techniques. Please click on the photo to get a closer look. This is how I created it ...

I started out by painting photo paper with coloured inks, not completely covering the paper.
When this was dry I printed it with a detail of one of my mandala pictures, if you are interested you can see it here - Intuitive Mandala.
Now it looked OK but it needed working on, and the painted ink was far shinier than the rest and this did not look good.
I decided to carry on and used my favourite rubber stamp around the picture, used a pen for detail and painted more ink around the edges.
After this I used Golden Gel medium 'Fiber Paste' to give it a more rough texture and painted it over with yellow ink.
To help the difference in shininess I now applied Golden Soft Gel (Glossy) to give it a more even effect.
The butterfly is actually a 3 dimensional sticker from a firm called BSB (the wings flap up), my friend came home from a holiday in Germany with these as a pressie. They had a hologram edging and this did not look good so I painted it over with inks.
After preparing a gouache background I stuck the photo into the journal and then painted the gouache with a varnish that is specially created for this medium. The shininess of the background is now the same as the photo and it brought up the depth. I have had this varnish for quite a while and not dared to use it. What if it ruined my picture? I was amazed that it worked very well. I used Daler-Rowneys Poster and Water Colour Varnish, it is quite thick and the picture almost looks as it I have used acrylic.

My only concern is since this is a journal I have to close the sides together and there's maybe a chance that they will stick. Only time will show but that is what experimenting is about isn't it!

Brilliant red, flaming, invigorating, revitalising, nourishing, tantalising, delicious, sturdy, strong and effortless.

Wonderful, I felt like swimming in this colour so I made this mosaic from my Flickr photos on the Big Huge Maps Mosaic Maker site - http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/mosaic.php. Holy Ghost in Nature

The background of this computer art was taken on the summit of a hill called Latrigg in Keswich, which is situated in the Lake District, England. Truly a beautiful place!

I have walked this route a few times and it is exhilarating! The views over the lakes, valleys and mountains are amazing . There is a mountains beside this hill that I have never climbed called Skiddaw, I remember nagging Mum and Dad about climbing it and getting no for the answer all the time. I understand why these days, you have to be fighting fit to be able to get up this mountain. Oh well maybe one day I'll do it.

I call this computer art 'The Holy Ghost'. I started this over a year ago and just forgot it, found it again in the weekend and decided to finish it in the weekend. Actually there is also another picture on the same theme which I will post next time.

A Study of walls

Almost every time I am in England I see these lovely stone walls and get an inkling to photograph them. In Denmark we do not see very many of these, so I revel over them when I see them in England. Yes I admit to my fascination of these small worlds, they always seem to be a home for small plants, moss, lichens or are just so decorative in themselves. Building them is a work of art, I do hope somebody is keeping on the tradition. Sadly many of the old crafts are being forgotten.
More about my Mother - she seems to be coping since her little stroke, she is gradually sorting herself out of the confusion, one step at a time. Thank goodness!

Mum's are special!

Today I drove down by the beach and absorbed the energy. It has been tough the last few days, Mum's had a minor stroke and here I am stuck in Denmark while she is living in England. We have no relatives close by but thank goodness she has the nicest of neighbours. I was ready to drop everything and get over there but have spoken to her doctor who says she is OK. Mum says she is coping too and telling me not to worry (fat chance!). So I have decided it is better to wait until later at the moment (unless the situation changes or I can't stand not seeing her) because I can help her more then than now with some of the practical jobs that will need doing. She has definitely been affected, physically she is OK but she has gaps in her memory, especially concerning where things are and how to use the television, CD player etc. She is having to learn it again. I am literally ringing her 2-3 times a day, have sent flowers and cards and I am thinking of her most of the time. Mum's are special!!! She was lucky it was a minor stroke and I am really relieved too.
I keep on stubling onto my old work, found this last week, I had forgotten this one. I call it natures energies and it is watercolour on paper.

These photo's are 'warm off the press', taken this evening from my studio upstairs while having a cosy chat over the telephone with my friend and neighbour Sonja. Yes we do this often, my partner fails to understand why we ring each other, I guess it is a little crazy isn't it! This amazing sunset started out looking unspectacular and I thought we were not going to have a good show this evening but then it started to change and showed all the colours of the rainbow. It was wonderfully golden too. While I was talking to Sonja I opened my Velux window and immediately saw the potential of the reflection in the window, so I rushed downstairs to get my camera and took many pictures. These two are the best. The reflection feels almost like water.This is the second side of the same journal as the previous posting. I enjoyed playing around here. It is a collage using water-coloured ripped paper, punched paper, acrylics, copper paint, rubber stamps and a pen.

The photo's are a close up of a Tagetes that I took with my Canon SLR camera,they are taken very close up that is why they are not totally sharp.
The bottom picture is from one of my journals, I have used watercolour, acrylic, pen, copper paint and glimmer paint. I have called this 'Phoenix rising'. The first picture is a card I gave to Bent Erik for his birthday, I have used a rubber stamp and a red pen on this card.
I guess I cannot hide my love of colour in this posting :-)

Lolly Pop and juicy glass

This lolly pop started out as a mandala but I rather got carried away and the result is rather like a rocket lolly pop :-) It is the size of a postcard and I have used watercolours, Twinkling H20's and pens. On flickr the other day I saw a posting with Daniel Smith's extra fine watercolours and their wonderful colours, and discovered they had interference, pearlescent and iridescent colours when I looked on their website. They are well and truly on my wish list! Unfortunately they are not sold in Europe and the tax that can be placed on the package when arriving in Denmark is stopping me from ordering just now . It you live in the USA go and check them out, from what I understand they are good artist quality and the colours are divine - the link is her - Daniel Smith.
These photo's are taken with my Canon film camera, that I almost never use anymore. I really love photographing coloured glass and have plenty of it at home. In my last home I had a whole glass cupboard full of it, which I lit up and appreciated in the evenings.

Skipton Arcade and an old collage.

This collage is an oldie. One of my friends and I had a fun day making our own paper and later on I used some of this paper (which we had dyed blue), plus magazine sides to make this collage on black paper. It's got to be around 10 years ago, oh dear time does fly!!!
As promised here are more photo's of Skipton arcade. I love these arcades in England, there is one in Manchester too,I have photos of this up here on Flickr click forward there are seven photos. In my opinion it is some of the best English architecture.

A little bit of fun using a rubber stamp, a textile block stamp, watercolour, a pen and a cork.
I am feeling so much better, went to my dentist in Copenhagen and she seem to have solved the problem with my pain in the bottom teeth and my sinusitis has subsided, thank goodness!!! It is so nice being able to sleep normally again. I am not finished yet, the root of one of my upper teeth is being killed off, so I need to see the dentist again (a local one) to complete this. My dentist says this tooth is probably the reason why I have been ill, tough luck it had to be while I was on holiday but I am so thankful to be normal again :-)

This is Skipton, my favourite town in North England, the shops are wonderful and 'original' with not so many of those boring chain stores.

It's a market town with this canal, the last two photos are outside of a charming arcade. I loved the iron work here. I will post some more pictures from this arcade tomorrow.
The pictures were rather dull due to the weather so I have had them in photoshop to brighten them. The best part of this town is the craft shops, there are two in the town (one of them is moving soon) and one about 10 minutes drive away. As you can imagine I always seem to be getting my purse out and using money here :-)

Last week I was on holiday in Jutland Denmark. I always take a bagful of inspiration with me .... paints, paper, coloured pencils, cut outs, yarns, gems etc. so I can use the time relaxing and creating. This time I was not feeling so well so I have not done so much and I am not satisfied with the results either. The mandala isn't quite finished yet.

Yes it is a long time since I wrote on my blog. My apologies to you all!
My internet is up and running again ... yupee!!! I have been on holiday for two weeks in July, one of them in England and the other in Jutland in Denmark and have pictures to share from both these trips which I will put up soon.

I have been ill and not fully over it yet. I have had problems with my teeth and the dentists couldn't find out what has been wrong. I have been to three different dentists due to my own dentist's holiday and kept having pain that was gradually getting worst week by week until it ended up with excruciating agony. I finally ended up at the emergency doctors while on holiday last week and he seemed to think I had sinusitis in my jaw cavity so I am on antibiotics. I will try to get to the dentist again this week, this time to look at the bottom teeth to see if there is a problem there. I would not wish this on anyone! I am still tired and I have 2 days left on the antibiotics.

These are photo's of my designs in paper cutting, I did these many years ago and found them recently. I was really into doing this at that time and had them hanging up on my windows to enjoy from both sides. It is hard on the fingers doing this and I eventually stopped.

The little kindergarten I work in started a tradition of holding a summer market last year and we are repeating this again next Saturday. So I have been creative and been making cards at work for sale. The money made from these will go to children's toys and other things that benefit the kindergarten. I do hope they all sell :-)

I have woken up and realised that I have only posted 3 times so far this month. A symptom of a garden that needed working on and I am not finished yet, the weeds have been growing extremely well this year! Oh dear! We have really had a wonderful summery spring so far and the garden is far ahead than normal in it's development. Unfortunately there are heaps of greenfly out there ready to ravage all greenery and not a ladybird in sigh yet.The rape field behind has now gone almost green, I thoroughly enjoyed it while it lasted!

May in Denmark

This year there seems to be even more rape fields than usual, probably because the farmers are growing them for bio diesel production. I love them! Denmark is not spectacular in it's scenery but gentle, flat in places and in other areas undulating. They are no grand mountains here (I miss 'em) but it is so green, there is lots of coastline and the light is always wonderful near these. This weekend we had a long trip into the countryside and fortunately I took my camera with me, so here are some of the pictures. The first one is at the back of my garden, I am really enjoying this field in all it's moods, the yellow changes colour at different times of day.

I love butterflies and it is so lovely and warm now in Denmark, so they are appearing. It is very much like summer here and today we were walking with the children in the woodlands, eating our lunch there, returning around midday so the children could rest and sleep. We have been in our big garden in the afternoon .... such a lovely way to experience a working day! But we had better enjoying it while it is here, it could well be raining next week :-)

This is a journal page I made last year, Do you know the feeling :-)?

I found a beautiful blog yesterday State Of The Art, Jeff Hayes paints realistic with oils and has some good information about his palette here. He reminded me of the art training I have received here in Denmark and how I gradually over the years gone into different directions, maybe it is time to get back to doing some of this ....

I love doing the cards, the journals, textile art, atc's etc. too and they keep the creative process going in me. I have recently started working with acrylics on canvas again but these paintings are not fully realistic either. Maybe it is time to combine my style now with some of this and see what happen ... let's see :-) Somehow I felt as if I had lost something when I saw Jeff's blog but I also really love abstracts, love mixed media art and love using bright and bold colours! I have been thinking recently that I should be specialising down one lane and you know every time I get that thought another loud NO resonates within me, I guess I am afraid the fun would go out of creating.

Using watercolour, rubber stamps, embossing, crackling medium, coloured gold leaf, copper paint, coloured pencils.yarns, 'diamond studs', inks, zigzag braid, lace material and relief medium.

On the back of the bottom tag I have written 'Life is an a adventure that I have created'. I realise more and more that my world is created by my positive and negative emotions. When I feel fear and lack, I see this emerging in my life, closure happens and potential is lost. When I feel self assured, clear, following the inner intuitions, then this manifests too in my life. If I was 20 years old now and had the life experience that I have now my life would be very different! These opposites still are prevalent but now I know that I can consciously change my life by working on my beliefs, my fears and by opening up to courage. Please believe me it is so difficult at times and I sink into my restricted fear based mentality and have to drag myself up again! Challenges have a way of appearing out of the blue! At the same time it is so good to know that I can change my life's perspective by changing my feelings and my thoughts and acting upon my inner impulses. What do you do to find courage?

Small cards.

These two cards are 10x10cm and I love working on this size! I have used acrylics, pen, inks, rubber stamps, lace and on the card on the top I have embroidered in lurex. I started on this size when one of my contact on Flickr AileenClarkeCrafts sent me a card in this size. I was so fascinated but knew that getting envelopes in this size here in Denmark would probably be impossible, so I wrote and asked where she bought them in England and sent off for them together with my friend next door who loved them too.

More work done while in England. These are small sketches done with coloured pencils. On the first two I have used punches that I bought while over there and I just couldn't wait to use them! I always seem to enjoy myself in their art and craft shops, using far too much money! Their selection is wonderful and this time I was in a town called Skipton in North England. In this town there are two craft shops and one just outside that has lots and lots of patchwork materials as well. They are such a joy to look around. I am usually only here once a year and it is such a treat.

The wallpaper rubbing is my favourite and it is just that. My Mum has some wallpaper with relief on it and I just couldn't resist experimenting with it. I think I will do more next time.

This was done while in England visiting Mum at Easter. I have used Prismacolor pencils (my favourite pencils) and a little punch at the bottom. I don't have all that many artist materials over there. I was actually enjoying myself experimenting here. It would be difficult for me to go anywhere without having the opportunity to create. Sometimes I shoot lots of photo's as well.

Spring is here, even though it is cold outside the flowers are blooming and it is so lovely seeing all the colour around the garden (together with the weeds :-)).
I created these collages a few years ago. I have used gouache, magazine cut outs, coloured pencils and pen.

My working colleague had her birthday last weekend and I gave her this from myself and the rest of the staff at work, as a card. She liked it :-)
I have as usual used different mediums .... watercolour, Twinkling H20's, pen, pearlescent liquid acrylics and crayons.
